In 2003 Russian industries' total losses due to counterfeiting will be $4-5 billion, said Peter Necarsulmer, president of the Coalition for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR). Losses resulting from the sales of counterfeit fuel amount to some $1 billion, from counterfeit drugs they are $300 million, and from counterfeit audio and video equipment they are $250 million a year. He noted that Russia lost over $2 billion due to counterfeiting in 2002, and over $1 billion in 2001.
