World Intellectual Property Day

World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated on April 26, is an event dedicated to the education and promotion of intellectual property and the importance of its protection.

This event, celebrated worldwide with activities on a national level, is being honored in Russia with a roundtable discussion and reception on IP held by Boris Petrovich Simonov, the newly appointed Chairman of the Federal Service on Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks. CIPR will be actively participating in both the IP roundtable and the World IP Day reception following.

World Intellectual Property Day was established by WIPO in 2000. The theme for this year's event is "Encouraging Creativity", emphasizing the need for protection of creative work through IP protection and enforcement. The protection of IP motivates individuals to create, whether through ideas, inventions or the written word.

WIPO has produced a variety of promotional material for World Intellectual Property Day. For further information on World IP Day, you may visit their website.

In addition, Boris Simonov, Chairman of the Federal Service on Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks, has an official announcement on this event and its importance to Russia. To read his announcement in Russian, please visit the Rospatent website.
