| REACT/CIPR Joint Project Baltics, Launched February 2004 The CIPR-REACT project, which commenced February 2004, was established to improve cooperation between the owners of intellectual property rights and The National Customs Board of the State Revenue Service and the Economic Police. The essence of the project is to help improve enforcement of intellectual property rights by representing the rights' owners in their interactions with enforcement agencies, conducting market inspections and raids, assisting enforcement agencies with identification of good and providing product identification training for them. October Update CIPR/REACT press release: Customs seizes more than 16 000 counterfeit goods in the eight months of this year. October 14, 2004. Read February - March Update The amount of seized counterfeit goods in the project's first month alone exceeds the total of the Custom Board past year seizure figures. In close cooperation with custom officers, 60,000 pairs of counterfeit sport shoes were seized at the Grebneva Customs point. As a result of valuable and efficient cooperation, the goods were quickly confiscated and destroyed and administrative sanctions imposed on the infringer. The entire process from seizure to destruction took approximately one month — a record short time for such a procedure. Numerous goods from various categories were seized by the Economic Police, thanks to this project.
