The Russian Patent and Trademark Agency (Rospatent) and the Coalition for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR) invite you to participate in a one-day practical seminar - Well-Known Trademarks in Russia: Targets of Abuse and Objects for Protection - at Rospatent, on Thursday, 14 June 2001.

Seminar participants will learn directly from the regulators and owners of famous trademarks how to comply with the RF Rules for the Recognition of Well-Known Trademarks in the Russian Federation (RF Ministry of Justice #2231).

Dr. Alexander Korchagin, Rospatent General Director; Alla Bolshova, RF Supreme Arbitration Court Justice; Yuri Kononenko, Rospatent Supreme Patent Chamber Chairman; Dr. Denis Croze, WIPO Trademark Law Section Head; and CIPR Legal Co-counsel Janet Hoffman of Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, and Eugene Arievich of Baker & McKenzie, will lead the discussions.

URALMASH, IZVESTYA and YAVA owners and lawyers will share secrets of how their trademarks became the first "Well-Known Trademarks" in Russia. Valery Guerman, Patent Attorney Association President, Prof. Yuri Averin, MGU Sociology Department, and members of the Supreme Patent Chamber will advise on opinion polls and other evidence techniques to prove the case that your company's and your clients' trademarks should also enjoy special protections as "Well-Known Trademarks" in the Russian Federation.
