Letter from the Chair

Dear Colleague,

Welcome! I am delighted to have you visit the CIPR website. You will find information that is timely, informative and offers practical advice on key IPR issues in Russia, Ukraine and in other countries in the region.

Since 1999, CIPR has been a leading rights holder advocacy organization in one of the most dynamic areas of the world – the former Soviet Union. We have actively strived to improve IPR laws and enforcement practices through legislative advocacy, coalition building, public awareness and training aimed at the governments in the region, and international bodies, and to cooperate with international bodies, including the WTO, WIPO, INTERPOL, among others.

As a public-private partnership, a key element of CIPR’s mission is to build relationships with IPR government decision-makers in the region and to work together to find solutions for IP protection issues, such as product counterfeiting, piracy and bad faith registrations. Our members play an active and important role in this process, and include several of the world’s leading brand names. We also collaborate closely with other international and national IP rights holder groups, consumer and business organizations, several of which are associate members of CIPR.
